18th pulse transformers

The power transformation theory (Magnetic circuitry) is used in many special applications in order to gain more quality, stability and avoid more cost or more waste. One of theses applications is the huge inverters AC/DC. This application is used in tractions, furnaces, motor speed controls, high power lines……. etc. The main problem is the ripples caused in the DC wave against each pulse in AC wave which means 6 ripples periodically appeared in a specific time. This problem was solved through muti-output transformers (two/three shifted outputs) three phases each. and then connected to a specific inverter (12th/18th pulse inverter) that can deal with theses outputs to produce a final DC wave with less ripples magnitude so it is called 12th/18 pulse transformers which is a rarely used transformers. Keeping in mind that the most undesirable solved problems through this transformers is the Harmonic distortions because of the inverter activity. As any transformers theses types can be oil type or dry type as per each supplier design strategy.
